In 2025, the team from The Lions Roar (the members advocacy group behind the push to remove the Paddlepop guernsey and bring back the classic Lions design) launched their next project: exploring a revitalisation of the club song.
With the belief that we have the best club song in the competition, the group set out to explore if it could be even better. Rather than the sound of electronic instruments from the 90’s version, the mission was to bring the song to life through real instruments to hopefully create a fuller and richer sound.
Additionally, a mixed choir was selected to sing the lyrics in an attempt to unify the AFL and AFLW sides with a song that represents them both.
On the Roar Deal, we’ve covered the journey to bring this revitalised club song to life, while understanding it is a sensitive area for many Lions fans (who doesn’t have a deep emotional connection to the song we’ve been singing for three decades?)
After many months of work behind the scenes, the experiment is now ready to share. Listen to both the 90’s version and the Revamped version below and vote for your favourite!
